One of the best skills you can have in tournament poker is the ability to ladder up. That's when the money bubble has burst, and you manage to outlast opponents with bigger stacks than yours, thereby increasing your payout. There are few more satisfying things in poker than laddering up. I much prefer it to being a frontrunner. Last night, I laddered up a couple of pay jumps, and got back into the blue.
