Recording a negative ROI of less than 100% for a tournament where you've lost money can only be achieved in tournaments where the lowest rungs of the payout ladder fail to cover the buy in. Of course, no one would willingly choose such a tournament, but there's no way to know what the pay table will end up being at the time you join, more's the pity.

I played two of these tournaments, wagering a total of $300,000, and winning a total of $306,000. That meant my aggregate ROI was a minuscule 2%. As a point of comparison, my largest aggregate ROI for MTT-R NLHEs played in a single session is 4,048% :-)
