Tripped up

Big stacks always have the option to play more loosely than small stacks, and often do. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I hit the rail on a bad beat, losing to a loose big stack. However, that's poker, and I accept it. It happened to me again last night. On my final hand of the tournament, I hit trip jacks on the turn, but lost to a big stack who rivered a straight. At least I got to station 2 :-)

Last night, I came as close as you can get to a 0th place without actually getting it, surviving the late registration period by a single minute. On my final hand, I was dealt AQo (ace queen offsuit), and lost to an opponent who'd been dealt J6o (jack six offsuit). He flopped trip jacks; whatcha gonna do?

Tripped up

Last night, I broke my vow never to play another bounty tournament again. I had a fairly respectable reason - it was late, and that was the only $200,000 buy-in tournament in progress at the time. I failed to outlast the late registration period, earning a dreaded double dash (0th place). On the final hand, I was dealt JTo (jack ten offsuit) and hit trip tens on the flop. I had one opponent, who bet big enough on the river to put me all in if I called. By then I was priced in, so I did. He'd hit his straight draw, and I was out in a New York minute.

Tripped up

As I've said before, the most memorable hands for me tend to be ones I lost in painful fashion. That was the case again last night. On the final hand of the session, I flopped trip fours and slow-played them. An opponent bet every street from that point on, and I was happy to call him. Calling his river bet put me all in. Imagine my dismay when he turned over trip fours with a better kicker. Whatcha gonna do? Luckily for me, I'd already made the money.
