To a seasoned poker player, money not lost counts just as much money won. Every amount is either a positive or a negative delta; losing a specific amount less than you might have lost does the same thing to your bottom line as winning that same amount more than you might have won. Last night, I made $50,000 the easy way, by virtue of the fact that I didn't lose it, when I easily could and should have :-) Why should I have lost it? For the simple reason that I make it a practice, when playing MTT-R NLHE, to rebuy immediately after being assigned a seat at a table. Very rarely, my first hand starts immediately, before I have a chance to do this rebuy; in such a case, my balance isn't incremented until the hand is over. That's what happened to me in the first MTT-R NLHE I played last night. I hit the felt on the very first hand, so I was quite happy I hadn't been able to rebuy immediately :-) I lost only $50,000, instead of the $100,000 I should have lost. I'll take it!
