Late is great

I've gone back and forth on the question of when is the best time to join a tournament. Lately, I'm coming down strongly in favor of joining late. The later you join, the more dead money is in the prize pool. What's not to love? Last night, I joined with 20 minutes remaining in the late registration period, which meant that the tournament had started 24 minutes before that. I was Caboose Boy at one point, but managed to min cash. I hit the rail when my pocket aces were cracked, but have no complaints.
