Last night, I was in dire straits until cowboys (pocket kings) came to my rescue. It's amazing how often poker fortunes turn on a dime. You can't just be good; you also need luck. By the same token, you can't just be lucky; you also need to be good. Poker has a built-in mechanism to keep your ego in check, even while giving you the hubris to think, "I'm the best player ever" :-)
