The first foot of runway

In an earlier post, I compared making the money in an MTT to landing an airplane. I actually had a particular airport (and runway) in mind when I made the analogy - Logan Airport in Boston. To land on the runway I'm thinking of, planes have to approach over water. This can be disconcerting to the passengers, to say the least :-) It's hard not to get the impression that the plane is coming in too low, and will hit the water first. Last night, in the final MTT NLHE I played, I thought my plane was coming in too low.

This is an excerpt from my November 28, 2016 post. Last night, as before, I thought I was going to hit the water, but luckily landed on the first foot of runway instead.

I've used this blog post title multiple times before, and I'm sure I'll be using it again. Last night, once more, I made the money by the skin of my teeth, finishing in the last paid place. It's an exhilarating feeling to land your plane on the first foot of runway. I'll take that outcome any day :-)

I've used this title before, but if the shoe fits ... Last night, in the second tournament I played, I landed on the first foot of runway, making the money with no room to spare. It was the 25th time I've done that in my MTT-R NLHE career. It makes for a thrilling, nerve-wracking ride :-) After the money bubble burst, I was the short stack at my table, with just half a percent of the chips in play there. Not surprisingly, I didn't last long - just four hands. However, the min cash enabled me to make a tiny profit on the night. I'll take it!

This can be disconcerting to the passengers, to say the least :-) It's hard not to get the impression that the plane is coming in too low, and will hit the water first. Last night, in the final MTT NLHE I played, I thought my plane was coming in too low. I held out as long as I could; when I eventually hit the rail, I had to wait a bit to find out what my place was. This was due to the fact that multiple players from multiple tables can hit the rail in rapid succession. As it turned out, I landed essentially on the first foot of runway :-)
