Either last night or the night before, I hit quad tens. I made a mental note to blog about it, but didn't keep track of which session it occurred. That actually makes an odd sort of sense; quads are so unusual that they kind of exist in a dimension beyond space and time. Tenliness is next to quadliness :-)

The most memorable hand of last night's session, as is so often the case, was one I lost. I was dealt cowboys (pocket kings) and hit a set on the flop. My set of kings improved to a full house of kings full of tens on the turn. However, the river was another ten, and I lost to quad tens. Thanks to my opponent betting conservatively on the river, I didn't lose my shirt. I was able to make the money, and even laddered up two money jumps after the money bubble burst.

This is probably the fourth or fifth time I've used this blog post title; I never miss a chance :-) I had two memorable hands last night, which anyone would have been able to play in their sleep. On the first one, I was dealt a pair of tens, and flopped quads (hence, the title of the post). On the second one, I was dealt two diamonds, and flopped a flush. Thanks to those lucky hands, and to some skill as well, I got under the lights again. That never gets old!

Last night, I won my second biggest pot of the session on hand 42, when I made four of a kind, tens, on seventh street. The hand was well disguised, since only one of the tens was showing. It's silly to have a favorite quad hand, but I do. You won't be surprised to hear that it's quad tens. I've had this particular quad hand more times recently than any other quad. As an added bonus, it provides me with a great blog post title :-)

It's a funny thing, but sometimes facts just can't convince you to give up your previously held, erroneous beliefs. The facts tell me that my most frequently occurring quads are not quad tens, but I'm sure the facts are lying :-) After all, 3 of my last 5 quads have been quad tens. Last night, I won a monster pot of $127,484 with them on hand 28, and knew it was time to get out of Dodge. A nice ancillary benefit was that I got my cash game no limit hold'em balance back into the blue.

Once again, I demonstrate my willingness to reuse a blog post title :-) I really like this one. On Friday night, I won my biggest pot of the session, $70,694, with quad tens. I called all the way to the river, and finally raised big on the river. The opponent I'd been calling couldn't stop himself from calling. Since my two most recent quads (as far as I recall) have been quad tens, I decided to do some research to see if this is the denomination I've had quads with most often. As it turns out, it's not. Here are the numbers:

Last night, even though I had a losing session, the poker gods showed me a little love on one particular hand. They threw a four of a kind my way - specifically, quad tens. Tenliness is next to quadliness :-) No poker player ever gets used to getting quads; they're just too rare.

I've mentioned fingerfehlers before; last night, a fingefehler ended up costing me $62,750. When I selected my seventh table, I didn't realize I'd scrolled down a little too far in the PokerStars lobby; as a result, I picked a $22,500 buy in tournament instead of one at the $45,000 buy in level I intended. I came in first in that tournament, meaning I only ended with half the profit I would have had had I picked the right buy in. I still wouldn't have made a profit on the night, but it would have made for a more palatable loss.
