A two by four to the head

The most memorable hand of last night's session didn't take me to the rail, but may as well have; it left my stack on life support. I was dealt a big slick, paired my ace on the flop, and paired my king on the river. I lost to a set of nines. This was eerily similar to the recent yet another always going broke hand, but my reaction this time was quite different; I felt like I'd taken a two by four to the head. I only lasted a couple of hands after that.

A two by four to the head

With a blog post title like this, you won't be surprised to learn that things didn't end well for me last night. On my final hand, I was dealt a big slick (ace king), paired my ace on the flop, and shoved. I got one caller, who'd been dealt what I call baby cowboys (pocket jacks). Unfortunately for me, my opponent hit a set of jacks on the flop, and they held up. Luckily for me, I'd already made the money :-)

A two by four to the head

If there's anything worse than having your aces cracked, it's having them cracked with such vehemence that you're drawing dead on the river. That's what happened to me on the final hand of last night's session (which, by the way, was an extremely short one). It felt like taking a two by four to the head.

A two by four to the head

The most memorable hand of last night's session was the final one, when I took a two by four to the head. I got clubbed twice - once on the flop, and the second time on the river. Complete overkill! I was shot in the gut when I was already underwater, in the process of being drowned. I realize I'm mixing my metaphors, but it's the best way to express my feelings of outrage. For the record, I was dealt pocket jacks, and an opponent was dealt A2o (ace deuce offsuit). An ace showed up on the flop, which was the first blow to the head. Another showed up on the river, the second and fatal blow.
